Important Considerations for Baking Pan Volumes:
Pan volumes are approximate and calculated assuming a standard depth of **2 inches (approximately 5 cm)**. Deeper or shallower pans will have different volumes.
The formula for the volume of a cylinder (pan) is V = π * r² * h (pi times radius squared times height).
When substituting pans, try to match volumes as closely as possible. If using a larger pan, baking time may decrease. If using a smaller, deeper pan, baking time may increase and batter may overflow.
Always leave some headspace in the pan for batter to rise (typically fill pans 1/2 to 2/3 full).
Material of the pan (glass, dark metal, light metal) can also affect baking times.
