Rectangular Baking Pan Size & Volume Conversion (US & Metric)
A guide to common rectangular baking pan sizes (e.g., 9x13 inches) and their metric centimeter equivalents, along with their approximate volumes in US cups and milliliters (ml). Assumes a standard depth of 2 inches (5 cm).

Important Considerations for Baking Pan Volumes:
Pan volumes are approximate and calculated assuming a standard depth of **2 inches (approximately 5 cm)**. Many jelly roll or sheet pans are only 1 inch deep and will have half the listed volume.
The formula for the volume of a rectangular prism (pan) is V = length * width * height.
When substituting pans, try to match volumes as closely as possible. Adjust baking time if the depth or overall volume changes significantly.
Always leave some headspace in the pan for batter to rise (typically fill pans 1/2 to 2/3 full).
Material of the pan (glass, dark metal, light metal) can also influence baking times.
